Widgit is a fantastic program that can be used to aid help all children but particularly children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and children with English as an additional language (EAL). Here is a screenprint of the widgit program.

The world renowned Widgit Symbols have been designed in collaboration with language and communication experts, and enable individuals of all ages with communication challenges, learning difficulties and EAL to gain access to written information and communicate more independently. Widgit provides software, resources and services to individuals and organisations to help you make information more accessible using Widgit Symbols. (Information accessed from Widgit).

The screenprint below shows how widgit can be used. As soon as you type in a word, a picture that matches the word written automatically appears.

Widgit is so useful although it is very expensive and a cost which some schools may not afford so it is not always widely accessible.
